Where is the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign? – Location, Address and Parking Information

Fun and excitement bring up images of this iconic sign, which is well recognized throughout the globe. Visitors to Las Vegas have been greeted by this renowned landmark since 1959, thanks to its distinctive design, which is instantly recognized across the globe.

You can see it from south of the Vegas Strip, where it reads, “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas.” There are innumerable re-creations of its picture on shirts and other souvenirs since the sign has come to signify Las Vegas itself, even if you haven’t seen it in person.

It was included on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009 and has remained there ever since.

“Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” is the statement on the front of the sign, while “Drive Carefully Come Reverse Soon” is the phrase on the back.

Location of the “Welcome to Las Vegas!” sign

The Welcome to Las Vegas sign was erected on the city’s outskirts in 1959 when the roadway from southern California was still in its infancy. Nearly a mile south of Mandalay Bay, the same spot is now known as the southernmost tip of the Las Vegas Strip.

Many people regard the Welcome to Las Vegas sign to represent the southern limit of the Las Vegas Strip, even though the Strip does not have an official boundary.

As seen by the red dot, here is where the “Welcome to Fabulous Vegas” sign may be found.

Interestingly, the billboard doesn’t even point to Las Vegas! The sign is situated in the municipality of Paradise, Nevada, like most of the Strip. “Welcome to Fabulous Paradise, Nevada” simply doesn’t have the same ring. I believe we can all agree on that.

Las Vegas Boulevard’s median is where the sign is located. One of two Las Vegas Strip golf courses, Bali Hai, is located across the Street to the west. The closest airport, McCarran International, is located east of the sign. However, it is not a short walk from the airport.

Despite its location in the middle of one of the country’s busiest thoroughfares, the area surrounding the sign has been made much more pedestrian-friendly because of the installation of stop walks in 2015.

A few individuals are nearly constantly in front of the sign, no matter what time it is.

Tourists form a single-file queue to have their picture taken in front of the sign. Unless you arrive at 4 a.m., you’ll probably find someone to capture your picture with your phone or camera. Of course, it’s not uncommon to see an Elvis impersonator or wedding party at the sign.

Sign Parking for the Las Vegas Welcome

The sign had no parking for most of its life. However, in 2008, a modest parking lot with ten spots opened.

The lot was increased in 2015 as a result of excessive demand. There are now 33 parking places, not including the tour bus parking spots.

Directions

Being just next to Las Vegas Boulevard, you can’t possibly miss the enormous sign.

The parking lot can only be accessed while driving away from the Strip, which is the only way to get to the sign. When driving north towards the Strip, there is no parking lot turnoff.

Both sides of the sign have sidewalks and pedestrian crosswalks if you plan to walk to it.

Other Greetings from Las Vegas Symbols

Smaller and cheesier road-fronting versions of the sign may be seen throughout Las Vegas. Eastside Cannery Hotel and Casino is only a few miles apart from the other.

Both are miniature versions of the sign you’ll see as you approach the casinos and hotels on Fremont Street from the northbound lanes of Interstate 70. “Welcome to Fabulous Downtown Las Vegas,” is the message on the sign.

The crossroads of Las Vegas Boulevard and 4th Street is where you’ll find this sign. Neither parking nor pedestrian access is available.

The “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign is a must-see picture opportunity for many visitors to Sin City. The best part is that it’s completely free, unlike most things in Vegas!
