Fun Things Families Can Do With Kids on the Las Vegas Strip

When vacationing on the Las Vegas Strip, “they” claim that there are few activities for children. Then, I’m here to tell you that they’re correct.

The whole point of visiting Las Vegas is to get away from your money. Until the legal gaming age in Nevada is reduced to, say, 4 years old, the focus in Sin City will remain on luring in wealthy people.

A few nights on the Las Vegas Strip, on the other hand, may still provide a choice of family-friendly activities. There are plenty of activities for children of all ages, from a one-year-old to an 18-year-old, to keep them entertained on the Strip. I’ll begin with…

In the Shark Reef in Mandalay Bay

For those of you who live in places with enormous, professional aquariums developed by municipal and/or private industry leaders, Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef is a great way to spend a couple of hours. And where else in Las Vegas can you participate in an educational event? (other than the craps lesson).

This underwater excursion was a hit with my kids. My 4-year-favorite old’s part of the trip was getting to hold a stingray. We also had a lot of fun watching several sharks in the “window tunnel”, for want of a better term.

This is the World of M&Ms

You can find M&M’s World Las Vegas, a vast retail complex only a few feet from the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. It sells (surprise!) a wide variety of M&M’s-related merchandise. This business offers everything with an M & M logo, which is the end of the story.

However, we had a great time with my 4-year-old daughter as she got to pick out her very own color of M&Ms and pose in front of the shop with an enormous orange Orange M&M figure. In addition, there is a 3D movie on the top floor of the shop that is completely free and rather enjoyable.

The Chocolate World of Hershey in Las Vegas

Located in the NY-NY Hotel and Casino, Hershey’s Chocolate World Las Vegas is a smaller attraction for children than the M&M’s shop just across the street.

There are mascot figures, a chocolate Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, a bakery, and dispensers of Hershey’s Kisses in every color and taste. They also offer Twizzlers and other non-chocolate confections and logo-branded clothing and accessories.

Guests may ride the roller coaster at the New York – New York Hotel and Casino.

With a maximum height of 54 inches, the Big Apple Coaster at the NY-NY Hotel and Casino will keep your adrenaline junkie adolescent entertained for hours on end.

The Statue of Liberty

A journey up the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Las Vegas, which is precisely half the size of the original one in Paris, is a fun activity for your kids. The 460-foot-high observation deck provides stunning views of the Las Vegas Valley and the Strip below.

And although there is a fine restaurant on the 11th floor, its menu, location, and costs are more on the “taking your wife to a romantic meal while out of town” side than the “kids-friendly” side.

The Excalibur hosts a tournament of kings.

This dinner show, like Medieval Times, allows you to eat with your hands and witness jousting and other knightly activities from the comfort of your seat. The atmosphere is lively, and if you can bear the cost ($61 plus taxes and fees), it’s a refreshing change from a typical Applebee’s night.

The Excalibur Hotel and Casino is the ideal hotel for families with children to stay at during the Tournament of Kings.

Fountains of Bellagio

All ages will like this since it is free and simple to see. Who doesn’t like a pulsating fountain display? Since the Bellagio’s debut in 1998, visitors have been wowed by the resort’s stunning fountains.

The Bellagio water fountain shows are scheduled every half hour during the day and every 15 minutes at night, and you can find out the precise timings by visiting this page.

It’s a Big Top in here!

Probably the first thing that springs to mind when thinking of family-friendly activities on the Las Vegas Strip, Circus Circus has seen better days, but it’s still the top choice for those under 21 who want to have fun.

It’s hard to believe, but the hotel/famed casino’s Carnival Midway still has many carnival games and an arcade full of old-school video games.

The world-renowned free circus continues to delight and captivates audiences worldwide. Many rotating free circus performances begin at 11 AM each day, including jugglers, acrobats, trapeze performers, and even BMX riders.

AdventureDome

Circus Circus, yet big enough to have its section. Twenty-five rides, from slow-moving attractions for the smallest tots to exciting roller coasters, can be found at the AdventureDome, an enclosed amusement park of 5 acres.

Additionally, children under 32 inches may ride in the 4-D Theater to see Dora the Explorer Adventure and other season-themed films. The Polar Express and Happy Feet were part of a recent December movie-themed line-up.

The Flamingo’s Wildlife Habitat

And we’re not talking about the bachelor party from Houston here. An idyllic place to take a stroll, the free garden of the Flamingo Hotel and Casino is home to a variety of birds and fish. Even if it’s not as amazing as your local zoo, it’s still free!

Ferris Wheel with a Twist

The world’s tallest Ferris wheel, at 550 feet, can be found just off the Las Vegas Strip, between the Flamingo and the Quad hotels.

The Linq, a massive retail and leisure development, includes the High Roller Ferris Wheel. There are 28 cabins on the observation wheel, each of which can accommodate 40 people.

Museum of Madame Tussaud’s Waxwork

More than 100 wax figurines at the Las Vegas site, linked to the Venetian Hotel and Casino, aren’t exactly my cup of tea.

Located in the Mirage Volcano area.

The nightly explosions of the Mirage Volcano have been a Las Vegas landmark since 1989 and are completely free.

The Secret Garden of Siegfried and Roy, as well as the Dolphin Habitat

The famed magicians’ stable of lions, tigers, panthers and course dolphins is housed at the Mirage Hotel and Casino. Adults pay $25, while youngsters pay $19 for attending. It’s completely free to bring your 3-year-old youngster along.

Mac the Great

Magician and comedian Mac King has been delighting audiences since 2000. Families are welcome at these 3 PM events, which run every day except Sunday. You’ll receive a total of 70 minutes of magic and laughter. However, children must be at least five years old to enter.

There aren’t many acts in Las Vegas that have lasted more than a decade. See why Las Vegas’ “master” of family-friendly magic performances, Mac King, is one of them.

Pool

Swimming at your hotel’s pool is the last and most apparent kid-friendly activity in Las Vegas! Children will like the Mandalay Bay pool and the Flamingo’s pool.
